Our organization began in a small office at Hopedale High School back in 2013. After my diagnosis with Metastatic Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma on April 9, 2013 I had to do something good with it. As I informed my guidance counselor I would be out for the remainder of my sophomore year, she joked about me writing a book. I laughed. As I navigated the next couple of years going through treatments and surgeries, missing out on so much I should have been doing as a teenager, I began to consider her idea. As I was finishing my senior year, I decided to take the ultimate risk and go ahead with publishing a book and in June 2015 Living With The Ribbon hit the shelves. I later began working with some nonprofit organizations and thought about the possibilities of bringing what I loved most about each one and creating my own vision, ultimately looking to make the lives of those facing a cancer diagnosis just a little bit brighter. As 2018 rolled around my family and I considered the possibility and we began the paperwork for nonprofit status. After a lot of learning and waiting, we received official nonprofit status in June 2019. As I dealt with a cancer diagnosis through college while playing a DII sport and completing a double major and minor I decided I wasn’t finished yet. As I wrapped up my undergraduate degree Living With The Ribbon: Part Two was published in June 2019. Follow along as we look to influence the lives of those fighting this monster of a disease.
